Little India
About
Little India is the Indian quarter east of the Singapore River, across from Chinatown, and many Indian Singaporeans know it as Tekka. It is known for its markets, including the Tekka Centre (a market and hawker centre, 280 m from the centre), and it holds festivals through the year, Deepavali and Thaipusam among them. The Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple is at its centre, the Indian Heritage Centre 250 m away, and the Abdul Gafoor and Angullia mosques both within 400 m. Little India station, on the North-East and Downtown lines, is 250 m away, and Rochor and Jalan Besar a little further.
